Place of origin |
Barnaby Evans is an artist who works in many media including site-specific sculpture installations, film, garden design, architectural projects, writing, conceptual works and photography. This image was made at the start of a long series of interrelated works in various media in which he examined architectural space, beginning with photographs of planar façades. A quietness pervades this brightly-lit scene, in which horizontal bands of texture and colour define the railway-side warehouse against the foreground and sky. The two dimensionality of the image emphasises the utilitarian nature of the structure but, in its simplicity, also creates a simple meditative space for the viewer.
