gold box, painted with a portrait miniature. The portrait follows a miniature, frequently copied by Bernard Lens (1682-1740), which was believed to be of Mary, Queen of Scots. The underside is engraved with the arms of Sir John Hinde Cotton (died 1752), 3rd Baronet, a prominent supporter of the restoration of the Stuarts.
