Place of origin

This unusually shaped snuffbox is small enough to sit comfortable in the palm. While the intricate, chased mounts are typical of the work produced in London about 1760, the beautifully veined agate might have come from Idar-Oberstein, a German town famous for its stone-cutting industry.
