The globular, long necked form of this wine vessel together with its decoration of vertical, repeated geometric ornament suggests the influence of North Indian Mughal art of the 18th century.

Physical description

Wine vessel (onti) with a bulbous body resting on a flared base and a long, tapering neck flaring to a wide mouth. The body is a series of vertical panels containing stylised flower motifs. The base is decorated with bands of pearls and leaves. A band of stylised flower motifs encircles the shoulders of the vessel and leaf patterns decorate the neck.
