The former attribution to Lodovico seems plausible at first glance, but the pen strokes are more angular and jagged than his. See for example the short straight strokes that indicate the left knee and thigh of St Christopher. The folds in his cloak are defined in the same hard, rectilinear technique, which gives the garment a stiff, metallic look. Lodovico's pen strokes are usually more flowing. The drawing is somewhat reminiscent of Gaetano Gandolfi.
