Esdaile (Lugt 2617; sale Christie's, 19 June 1840, lot 324); Dyce Bequest 1869 LITERATURE Dyce Catalogue no. 208 (as by Berretoni) The attribution recorded by Barnard is uncertain. Little is known about Berretoni's drawings. The drawing shows a strong influence of Maratta, whose pupil Berretoni was. See the drawings by Berretoni at Diisseldorf in Budde, 1930, pl, 41, no. 286, and in the exhibition catalogue Meisterzeichnungen der Sammlung Lambert Krahe, Diisseldorf (Kunstmuseum), 1969-70, pl. 78, no. 93.
