This drawing is a design fro the corresponding painting in the vault of the Vatican Logge and belongs to a group of drawing by the same hand connected with the same series of paintings in the Logge. By eliminating Giulio Romano, Perino and Polidoro, Gere and Pouncey arrived at the conclusion that Penni was probably the author of this group of drawings.
