It is obviously a late work, made under the influence of Michelangelo and Raphael, reminiscent of the two prophets (Isaiah and Job) that flanked the painting 'Salvator Mundi', dated 1516, in the Annunziata, Florence. It might even be an early idea for Job. (The 'Salvator Mundi' is now in the Pitti Palace: the Job and Isaiah in the Uffizi. See H. von der GabeIentz, Fra Bartolommeo, Leipzig, 1922, 1, pp. 177-79, pls. 20 and 21; also Venturi, 9, part 1, p. 333, fig. 240. A drawing for Job in the Uffizi is reproduced in fig. 241.)
