The painting depicts a scene from the Korean War (1950-1953) in which two soldiers in a hut are discussing sheet music, in preparation for a guitar and flute performance. Their happy mood is evident from their relaxed, confident expressions. The certificate obtained with the painting notes the title as 'Ch'ukcheoneul aptugo'.

Physical description

The painting, oil on canvas, depicts two soldiers, both wearing medals, looking together at sheet music on a table. The younger soldier, whose winter hat lies on the table beside him, holds a guitar. The second, older man wears a cap and holds a flute in one hand and music in the other. The guitarist, at the centre of the composition, is lit from above. Behind the two men, musical instrumetns are arranged on a shelf. The setting is a log cabin. A pot plant is on a shelf to the upper left of the composition.
