Purse

19th century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This textile accessory is an oval purse, and from the embroidered design, most probably made for a child or to carry a child's things. Such oval purses were mainly embroidered on the lower half, as the upper portion would have been pleated and a cord drawn through so it could hang from a girdle or belt. This purse has a series of small holes at the top, possibly where cords would have been drawn through to secure the purse.
