Place Of Origin

Textile design, probably for silk tie fabric. The design was made some time between 1947 and 1965 by Oskar Ehrenzweig, a Vienna-born designer who moved to London in 1938. The design is small (75mm square) and painted in gouache on paper with great precision. It is a design for a fine printed fabric, but its pattern may have been inspired by the appeaence of the stitches in a knitted fabric.
