Textile design, probably for silk tie fabric. The designer was Oskar Ehrenzweig, who was born and trained in Vienna, but moved to London in 1938. The design was made some time in the period 1948 to 1965. It is derived from a houndstooth pattern, and is painted in gouache on paper on a very small scale (75mm square). The detail is meticulous, and the finish very smooth, so that the design has the appearence of a printed work.
