This perspective view enhances the already dramatic dimensions of the ornate interior. John Alexander worked mainly in the north-east but his designs were carried out in cinemas and dance-halls all over the country. The newly built halls of entertainment provided architects and designers with the rare opportunity of large flat spaces to decorate, money and the remit to be exotic and fanciful. Thus they were able to create the complete environment to enhance the suspension of reality for the cinema goers. Unfortunately very few of the finished schemes survive.
