Little girl's apron of unlined ivory-coloured cotton printed with a design of irregular blue-grey stripes and stylized red, yellow and purple flowers with foliage. The apron has a patch pocket of self fabric stitched to the centre front and hand embroidered with a horizontal row of feather stitch in pale pink thread across the top edge. The apron is cut with the bib and skirt all in one, and has curved edges and armholes; the edges are bound throughout in narrow pink velveteen ribbon. The garment fastens with two lengths of pink velveteen ribbon which are stitched to the top front and cross over the shoulders to fasten to the waist back of the apron with metal press studs.

Object history
Worn by one of the donors, Mrs Ruben (née Madeleine Lavigne in France in 1921). She commented that it was her favourite of all her aprons.
Historical context
At this date overalls, pinafores and aprons were still in constant use by children in continental European countries, in contrast to the UK and the USA where they tended to be worn only by the youngest children.
