This is an engraving of an ornamental frame made in the Netherlands. It was originally designed by Hans Vredeman de Vries in 1569 but this print was engraved and published by Assuerus van Londerseel around 1590. It is one of a suite of 4 plates showing cartouches surrounded by strapwork, scrolls, fruit, masks, nymphs and satyrs.
