Train Set

1990 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Train set, painted turned wood, metal and plastic, with original packaging.

The box lid is card, printed in colours on a green ground to show the title, manfacturer's name, product information and photographs of the toy. The details are printed in several languages. The base is also card. Inside is a green plastic pre-formed container for all the parts. There is a printed paper booklet showing possible layouts and advertising other sets from the same manufacturer. There is also an inspection slip.

All track and platform parts are made from plain light wood (probably beech), the train and passengers are painted.
The platform has a flat base with a sloping roof held by two columns. In the centre is a double seat. A BRIO label is stuck to the roof. There are various double-sided track-pieces, each with two parallel grooves for the train's wheels to run in. At one end of each is a knob which fits into a rounded hole at the end of the next piece.

The train consists of a black painted engine with a red funnel and four red plastic wheels with metal hubs. There is a magnet at the rear. The carriage is yellow with red wheels and a magnet at either end, a BRIO label is stuck to the side. The truck is blue with red wheels and magnets at either end. The brake-van is red with a black roof, with red wheels and a magnet at each end.

There are two sitting (yellow, green) and four standing passenger figures (brown, grey, red, blue). Two of the standing figures are shorter, probably representing children.
