Object history
Bought from the collector/dealer Wilfrid Drake for £50 (RP 12203/1930).
(17 March 1931) Letter in Register from A.E. Popham to Bernard Rackham:
The St. Martha or St. Margaret is, I feel pretty confident, from a design by Aert Ortkens. This is perhaps not at first sight obvious but there are characteristic details which point to him. The small mouths with the rather deep shadow under the lower lip, the decoration on the column at the top which you find nearly always, the comic expression of horrow on the king's face.
