Pair of shoes for a child, red morocco leather in a wrapover style with a hallmarked silver clasp. Pointed toes and low heels. The heel-piece is cut in one with the fastening bands to which are attached small, square silver clasp and a sea-scalloped incised border which hooks into a similarly-shaped plate with two rectangular openings. The clasps are hallmarked on the backs with 'R' facing the King's Head, a rampant lion and the initials C.H (probably Charles Hongham of London). The shoes are unlined but are stiffened ar the heel with leather.
