Dress for a young girl: (original 1952 description but in shorter sentences) Blue and white striped silk, having a tight-fitting bodice with a pleated front falling into a panel of gathers [at the] centre. [Short] full skirt; opening down the back; fastened with hooks and eyes and trimmed with blue silk buttons from neck to waist, the opening continues below the waist for 5 inches. High neckline trimmed with narrow border of machine-made lace. Tight fitting sleeves having 3 rows of dark blue braid round the lower edge; white gathered cuffs with a narrow scalloped edging of drawn thread work fastening with a hook and eye. The skirt lined with white glazed cotton, the bodice and sleeves with white cotton; the bodice is not boned. A gathered frill attached to the silk of the waist band varying from 2½ inches centre back to 5 inches at the front, the frills also lined with white glazed cotton; a slit pocket on the right side of the skirt.
