Physical description

(original 1962 description) Coat for a girl. Coat of white machine quilted cotton. It is princess line [with] buttons from neck to hem and has an inverted pleat at the centre back skirt. Machine made broderie anglaise insertion trims the yoke, front fastening and hem.

Given by The Dowager Lady Rochdale (RF 62/ 1870). The coat was said by the donor to have been worn in [from?]1879 by herself and her sisters, the daughters among the eleven children of Francis Charles Granville Egerton, the 3rd Earl of Ellesmere:
