Glazed figurine of Dorothea Baird as Trilby, barefoot, her hands behind her back, wearing a long military navy blue jacket with gold epaulettes, gold buttons and gold trim, the front corners of the coat fastened back against the body of the coat revealing an ankle-length yellow skirt striped in green and decorated with springs of red and blue flowers. The jacket is open at the top to reveal her right nipple. She stands on a dark brown plinth with a white top and the word ‘TRILBY’ across the front of the base. At the back of the base is a plaque on which is painted ‘Barbara Macdonald 1931’

Glazed earthenware figure of Dorothea Baird (1875-1933) in the title role of Trilby by Paul Meredith Potter (1853–1921), adapted from from the novel by George du Maurier, published serially in Harper Magazine, 1894. Haymarket Theatre, 30 October 1895. Figure by Barbara Macdonald, 1931.
