2. PRINT: DESIGN FOR A CHINA CABINET Dutch, about 1700 Etching, by Daniel MArot (1663-1752) Blue and white Chinese porcelain became highly fashionable in Europe. By the end of the seventeenth century, it was being imported in large quantities, and European copies in tin-glazed earthenware were also available. Here it is loaded onto shelves and brackets in a small room, and even placed within the fireplace. The walls have also apparently been japanned in imitation of oriental lacquer. E.1672.20 - 1888
