Place of origin

In his recognisably Art Deco design Percy Metcalfe captures the driving spirit of modernity. By concentrating on simple geometric shapes he implies strength and vitality. The metal, nickel, was an innovative choice for a medal. However, it was widely used in other decorative arts and was, of course, appropriate for this commission.
