Uproot!

Poster
1978 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This Soviet or "Red" propaganda poster calls for total disarmament by capitalist countries. This poster depicts a United States B-1 Air Force bomber gripped within a gargantuan blue fist. The bomber sprouts tree-like roots in the shapes of US dollar- and UK pound-signs, suggesting that capitalism provides the "roots" of militarism. The use of these two currency symbols particularly singles out the rampant militarism of the United States and Great Britain.
