Giselle descibed on the programme as a ballet Pantomime in 2 acts was one of the few traditional ballets revived by Serge Diaghilev and initially presented in homage to French ballet traditions. The credits for the production read ballet by Vernoy de Saint-Georges, Théophile Gautier and Jean Corall; music by Adolphe Adam; Scenery and costumes by Alexandre Benois, Scenery painted by Allegri and costumes made by M. Granier, Paris. The choreography was by Mikhail Fokine after Marius Petipa. The Ballets Russes production was first danced on18 June 1910 at the Théâtre National de l’Opéra, Paris. It was first performed by the Ballets Russes in London on 16 October 1911 at the Royal Opera House and Giselle received its final performance by Serge Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes on 25 July 1929 at the Royal Opera House, London

The role of le Garde Forestier [Hilarion] was first performed by Alexis Bulgakov in Paris and taken over by Adolf Bolm in London

Costume designed by Alexandre Benois, made by M. Granier, forLe Garde Forester (Hilarion) in Act I of the ballet Giselle mounted for Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, 1910. Short-sleeved brown/black suede V-necked mediaeval gilet with cap sleeves trimmed with silver braid, worn at the waist and green undershirt incorporated into the costume. The costume fastens with the infill at the neck and steel buttons.
