Silk Programme

1973 (made)

Silk and satin programmes were traditionally produced for special evenings at the theatre, often in the presence of a national or local dignatory, in this case the President of Ireland Eamon de Valera.

This is a version of the silk programme without the cream fringe that is a feature of another copy of the programme in the collection. This version may well have been given to those in cheaper parts of the house while the fringed version was reserved for those in the expensive seats, or perhaps just the President and his party.
