Place of origin

This circus scene is Bayes's first surviving work in wax. He exhibited it at the Royal Academy when he was just 18 years of age. The relief is an early indication of Bayes's innovative use of materials and life-long interest in equestrian subjects. The 'Pet' referred to in the title is almost certainly the circus horse.
