Object history | This was formerly considered to be a portrait of Richard Brinsley Butler Sheridan, dramatist and parliamentary orator. The identification of the pastel as a portrait of the artist's brother Samuel, who was a municipal official in Guildford and officiated at the Jubilee celebration when an ox was roasted whole, is due to Mr. Francis H. Webb. |
