Object history
These drawings probably belong to the 'Brazen Serpent' composition, on which Stevens worked for many years.
Historical context
In the original catalogue entry from 1950, a man is described as having 'pronounced semitic features'. It is repeated below in its original historical context but otherwise should be avoided as this notion has fallen from usage and could be considered offensive.
