Flame bowl

Bowl
2004 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Daniel Fisher's porcelain vessel forms push to the limits the technique of pinching. Normally associated with small-scale work, Fisher uses this very simple method to create large and dramatic forms that clearly bear the traces of the artist's fingers. One of a series of 'flame bowls' made by the artist, this piece exploits the translucent quality of porcelain to create a flickering effect akin to fire.
