Physical description

Lithograph, tinted with one tint stone, with additional colouring by hand, entitled 'Redout Kaleh (Mingrélie, Mer Noire)'. Lettered with title and 'Voyage Dans La Mer Noire, Le Bosphore Et Les Dardanelles', and variously, 'Dessiné par Durand Brager, Peintre de Marine, attaché à l'escadre Française. Goupil & Ce. Paris, Berlin, New York. E. Gambart & Co. P. & D. Colnaghi London. Imp. Lemercier, Paris.' Numbered with plate number and stamped variously 'Goupil & Cie. Editeurs A Paris'.
Also lettered 'Le premier des établissements Russes sur la cote. Point très important pour le ravitaillement de leur armée d'Asie. The first Russian establishment on this coast. A very important station for the victualling of the Russian army in Asia. Lithographié par Eug. Cicéri et Ph. Benoist'.
