Object history | This miniature formerly belonged to Prince Poniatowski, and was bought by Mr Jones against competition from Lord Hertford, but it is not know at what sale this occured (from the handbook to the Jones Collection, 1884, p. 123). It is similar to a miniature by Petitot in the Louvre, but is apparently not the same hand. Another similar miniature, which is stippled, is at Ham House. These can be compared with the portrait of the Queen of Poland in Gavard's Galeries Historiques de Versialles, Serie X., Section 4, No. 2179. |
