Pastel and wax crayon over photomechanical print on tracing paper
Nigel Coates is one of the leading British designers working in a highly individualistic and somewhat 'baroque' manner. Whilst his career in Britain consists mainly of retail design, it is in Japan that his architectural career has blossomed.
Coates executes a drawing in this style for each project. Although not necessarily a part of the design process, they are occasionally used for client presentations. These drawings present a highly developed overview of each project, showing the salient points of a scheme reassembled and reinterpreted in a very sophisticated manner. |
