Gallery label | The spiny, succulent cactus, associated with hotter and dryer climates than most of Europe experiences, were fashionable plants in the 1920s and 30s, and provided inspiration for the decoration on a wide range of artefacts. A splendid array could be seen at Kew where the hothouse promoted here was supplemented by a new one in 1929.(circa 2000-2019) |
