Features firmly hatched in brown and sanguine shadowed with grey, blended with gouache over a thin carnation ground; hair and costume washed and hatched with gouache and heightened with gold; background unevenly hatched in blue-grey over a pale grey wash; on vellum put down on a leaf from a table-book.

Modern copper electro-gilt oval locket, with plain flat back; the sides straight with a half-round moulding and a rolled-edge bezel holding the flat glass by its bevelled edge; an oval loop, cast, with two projections on each side and a ball finial; flat bevelled glass; heavily worn, the copper showing through the gilding in places.
