Sideboard or dressoir (dresser) of carved walnut. In two stages. The upper stage consists of a shelf supported in front on two pairs of pierced columns with Ionic capitals. The back has a boss in the middle within a carved framework flanked by pilasters. The lower stage contains two drawers carved with rams’ heads, gadroons and leaf ornament and resting on two broad supports carved with terminal figures and feet in the shape of animals’ paws. The back is panelled and the whole rests on a plinth (moulded).

Physical description

A label pasted to the back of the upper section indicates that the piece was exhibited in Paris in 1865. The manuscript numbers that are partially visible on the label are barely legible, but the item listed 1035 in the catalogue as follows may be the piece:
