Classical tutu worn by Alicia Markova. Skirt of layers of white tarlatan overlaid to the top with frills of modern net. The top layer is of fine net edged with a nylon net frill (new?). the top layer is decorated with tailed loops in gold tissue and scattered with gold iridescent plastic small and large sequins. The basque is decorated with loops of gold braid. The midriff of the bodice with apointed front and a narrow scalloped top, is of bright gold silk and tinsel brocade; the lower edge is piped in the same fabric, the upper is finished with a row of old gold braid and a line of gold iridescent sequins. The strapless bodice is shaped over the bust, and is covered with finely box pleated fine white net, set with random iridescent sequins ad vertical rows of gold thread, topped with a frill of the same fine white net edged top and bottom with gold thread and set with a central line of gold iridescent sequins. Above this is a line of gold tinsel edged with a gathered frill of old gold lace, set across the central gathers with pearls. The bodice is supported by elastic shoulder straps. To the centre of the bodice is a pearl flower made of pearl drops, and beneath a group of pearl drops.
