Mädchen u. Frauen heraus der Finsternis!

Poster
1919 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

1919 was a volatile year in the history of Germany. World War I had ended the previous year and the defeated German nation was made subject to the terms of Treaty of Versailles which stripped its of its colonies, and its European territories, and forced Germany to pay all expenses for the war. The German government at the time, called the Weimar Republic, was led by the Social Democratic Party. Posters such as this one were meant to encourage segments of society - here, the female population - to support the government throughout the trying times.
