Theatre costume of a woman's robe of linen, possibly for a bride. The garment is completely covered with laid and couched work in metal thread and designs of peonies and butterflies in coloured silks on a blue and silver fret ground. The are small silver plates along the lower edge which jingle as the wearer moves.

The robe is a normal shape with narrow sleeves and split sides. It is trimmed with white fur along all the edges but not along the collar which is a satin panel with laid and couched work in metal thread.

The garment is lined with natural linen on which there are two sets of painted black characters.
