  • The Crystal Palace was built in 1851 in Hyde Park to house the Great Exhibition, which showcased arts and industry, including photography, from around the world. When the building was moved and reconstructed in South London, Delamotte was commissioned to document the process. This image shows the royal party, including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, at the opening ceremony on 10 June 1854.(10/2012)
