The exterior of the board is covered with leatherette of a dull purple colour, with the central hinge covered in maroon leatherette; the exterior of one of the leaves is stamped and gilded with the word 'Patience' above a small scrolling motif. The interior of the board is covered with green baize, pasted over the tooled leatherette edging.
