Open based tambourine, the beechwood frame pasted with an external band of paper printed with geometric motifs in red and blue on a yellow ground and between red and yellow borders. The top is made from a circle of re-used white parchment held within a wooden hoop which has been painted royal blue. Around the sides are four elliptical holes, each originally fitted with a pair of discs of gilded metal loosely mounted on a long panel pin; there is also a circular thumb hole.
