Dress

Spring/summer 1994 (designed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This dress was part of Gianni Versace's spring/summer 1994 haute couture collection, presented in Paris. In this collection, as in many others, Versace created glamorous outerwear that was overtly inspired by lingerie. This very short mini-dress is made of crushed silk with an embroidered lace yoke and a section of smocking across the midriff that falls into sunray pleats. There is a slight A-line kick at the hem that adds fullness and fluidity of movement to the skirt.
