This plaquette representing Apollo and Marsyas was probably made by Jakob Cornelisz Cobaert (active 1568-1615) in Rome, in about 1590-1610. This was made after a design by Guglielmo della Porta 9active 1531-1577).

Physical description
Bronze plaquette depicting Apollo and Marsyas. In the centre the vanquished Marsyas is tied to a tree, on the left is seated Apollo with his lyre and behind him Mercury and Hercules. On the right Minos and two other figures beyond him. In the foreground are Marsyas' pipes and the Scythican who sharpens the flaying knife on a stone.
