This relief depicting the Annunciation was probably made in the late 15th century South Germany. This is in Mother of pearl and set in a silver gilt mount. The Virgin and Child is represented on the back.

Physical description
Carved mother of pearl relief depicting the Annunciation. The Virgin kneels at her prayer desk on the right looking back to the angel who kneels on his right knee, holding the sceptre. Above the dove descends from the radiant cloud. Behind the Virgin there is a vase of flowers.
The silver gilt mount is decorated on the back with the Virgin and Child. The Virgin is shown seated and wrapped in a voluminous mantle; she holds the naked Child in her left hand. In the background, to the right a town, to the left a country landscape. The latter perhaps shows traces of green enamel?.
The surface is flat and the background deeply cut. crowned
