This relief representing the Nativity was probably carved by Franciscans in Palestine, in the early 19th century. There are traces of a pierced border now broken away and the metal studs of a brooch-mounting remain at back.

Physical description
Carved mother of pearl relief depicting the Nativity. The Virgin on the left and Joseph stand looking down at the Child in the centre. On either side a male figure, at the top a cherub's head in the clouds. There are traces of a pierced border now broken away, the metal studs of a brooch mounting remain at the back. The relief is flat.
