Physical description | Carved mother of pearl relief depicting the Resurrection. Christ rises from the tomb giving the blessing, and holding in his left hand the staff with a cross and also a scroll. His garments are loosely draped. On the right are two soldiers asleep, one sitting with a cap on his head, the other, who has curling hair, lies extended on his back. On the left another soldier kneels in a helmet. In a background are seen hills, the Mount of Olives, and the towers of Jerusalem. The relief is convex and has a hole near the right margin. |
