Blake was one of the leading 'Pop' artists, who tried to revive figurative painting by introducing motifs from mass culture. He was fascinated by the imagery of fairgrounds. Here, cigarettes cards and magazine cuttings are pasted onto a drawing to playfully suggest a tattooed lady from a sideshow.
