Cassone of carved walnut. The lid is bordered by a band of leaves and has a raised centre enriched with flutings. In the centre of the front is a wreath enclosing a shield of arms bearing three palm branches with a fess, flanked by grotesque figures terminating in floral scrollwork; each side is occupied by a mask and below is a heavy gadroon moulding. At the angles are placed boldly-executed griffins and the feet are in the shape of lion’s paws.
