Signed and dated 1945
At the beginning of his career Sutherland was influenced by Samuel Palmer's pastoral vision of rural England. Later, he exhibited with the Surrealists.
These sources fuelled the imagery od Suntherland's landscapes, which seem animated by an inner life force.
